O.A.R and the Elias Fund

htw.jpgWe’re excited to announce that the Elias Fund recently won the Shine a Light Charity Contest through music group O.A.R’s Heard the World foundation! Thanks to the initiative of Liz Dropo, we’ve been awarded $5,000. The gifted funds will go to our partners at Albert Street School, empowering over 400 Zimbabwean refugee children in South Africa with holistic education. Many thanks to Liz and the guys of O.A.R! Now let’s take it a step further…

We want to take O.A.R’s support and demonstrate the power of a grassroots movement. With over 3,600 of you joined to EF’s Facebook cause,  our goal is to match O.A.R.’s generosity. But imagine this: A $10 donation from each of you would incredibly exceed our goal. And if you invited just three of your friends to join our cause and make a small contribution as well . . . we will make Elias Fund history!

Together, as a movement, WE can spark hope and opportunity in the lives of Zimbabwean refugees! The children at Albert Street School have fled their homeland, many orphaned or separated from their families. The refugee community in Johannesburg, South Africa has come together with the Elias Fund to ensure the future of these children. Let us put history on their side!

What’s more is that EF’s co-director, Scott, will be traveling to Albert Street School, leaving tomorrow (April 14), and YOU can follow via Twitter. Join him as he relates back to you the impacts of your involvement in this grassroots movement.

So join O.A.R and the Elias Fund as we empower Zimbabwean refugees. Then follow us on Twitter to hear first-hand the impacts of your efforts. It’s that simple!
