We received an exciting update this week from our partners over at Albert Street School. They have just recently received results for their students’ Cambridge International Exams (CIE). ’O’ levels had an overall pass rate of 73% and ‘A’ levels pass rate was 71%. We’re so proud of the students, excelling academically despite the countless hardships faced as a refugee population in South Africa.
You can see a break down of the CIE report here.

We just received word this morning from our partners in Chiredzi that scholarship recipient, Stella was given her final tests results and . . . she passed! This means Stella is officially licensed to work in the tourism industry with a National Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Last year, you’ll remember, Stella’s brother Justice graduated from university with a degree in Economics. Justice is currently employed in Chiredzi working at the local post office and is involved with community development projects across the town. We cannot wait to see how Stella puts her education to use!
It is yet another milestone in the continued spread of hope and opportunity across Zimbabwe. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Elias Fund. Because of you, another young Zimbabwean has risen above the mire of poverty and been empowered through education.

One hundred chickens and a brick coop to be exact! Thanks to everyone who participated in EF’s nation-wide Cheers to Five Years campaign. It’s because of your support that YET’s dream of a self-sustaining agricultural project based on poultry farming has been realized. A wonderful legacy for the Elias Fund’s fifth year anniversary!

The coop is large enough to house 500+ chickens, but initial harvest cycles will stay at 100 chickens until YET is comfortable expanding their growing numbers. Income generated from the sale the chickens will contribute to the costs of operating the organization’s educational empowerment program.
This is an important step towards a self-sustainable organization for YET. Thank you for empowering them with such a powerful tool.
