Mourning the Loss…

Sad news reached us recently about the passing of a good friend in Zimbabwe. Judith Makuni had been battling AIDS for years, yet remained a strong mother and friend to those closest to her. Her loss is felt across the community, specifically her two children. Justice and Stella lost their father at a young age, and must now mourn the loss of their mother. Though it is common in Zimbabwe to loose both parents to HIV/AIDS, the pain of such loss is never commonplace. Judith was a loving mother who only wanted the best for her children. It was her initiative that earned Justice and Stella scholarships from the Elias Fund via our partner organization in Chiredzi. Because of this, Judith’s legacy will continue through her children, and forever be a testament to the new beginnings found in an end. Empowered by an education, and armed with the memory of their mother, Justice and Stella will bring Judith’s hope to the ever evolving network of individuals committed to poverty eradication. -Our love forever; rest in peace Judy.
